This picture book tells the story of a young girl who fears that Eid will not be the same this year since her parents are making the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. Her grandmother is determined to make the celebration memorable, however, and surprises Aneesa with three sets of beautiful Eid clothes from Pakistan, and the promise of her favourite meal. But a chance encounter at the prayer hall with two young refugee girls in torn and ill-fitting clothes gives Aneesa the opportunity to experience the true spirit of Eid and the events it commemorates. An afterword and glossary give more information about the festival, the Hajj pilgrimage, and its historical roots.
