Joshua, an 8 year old Jewish boy, describes how his family celebrates Hanukkah, his favourite festival. He explains its historical origins and the customs he and his family observe during the eight day period. These involve the lighting of symbolic candles, games, songs, gifts, special foods and a party, after prayers in the local synagogue. This is a well presented information book, using many photographs, varying texts, and references to the way the festival is celebrated in other parts of the world. (Other titles in the series are: Christmas, Divali, Easter, and Id-ul-Fitr).
