16 year old Latifa, an Afghani teenager used to trainers and track-suits, with posters of Elvis on her bedroom wall and hopes of university, finds her world implodes when the Taliban take power. Her story of how she became a prisoner in her own home, forced to abandon school, don the burqa and live in fear, before escaping to France, is told in an eloquent and gripping manner which broadens into an historical perspective on her country's plight. Bearing witness is her form of resistance.
