Six year old Mohammed and his mother undertake a perilous journey to England from their home in Kirkuk, after his father is beaten and taken away by Saddam Hussein's soldiers and likely to have been killed for belonging to a Kurdish opposition group. This picture book combines photographs, colour illustration and Mohammed's own words, to tell a true and moving story of a young person's experience of seeking asylum. Mohammed shares his understanding of the emotional journey he has also undertaken and whilst welcoming his new life in London, is realistic about the painful memories which remain with him.
