This attractive picture book, tells the simple story of how Fatou is continually distracted from her task of fetching water from the communal well by the requests of various villagers to pass on messages or gifts to her mother. Set in the Gambia, the illustrations feature the colourful designs of traditional clothing and show some of the region's typical foods and vegetables. An afterword gives more information about these aspects of Gambian village life. This edition includes a CD, with an audio version of the story with sound effects.
