Samir, a young Palestinian boy, needs an operation on his leg after an accident, and has to share a hospital ward with four Jewish children. He holds Israelis responsible for his brother's death, but his hatreds and prejudices are subtlely transformed as he learns the personal stories of the four children in his ward. Samir's narrative deftly captures the intensity of the experience and shows how the interactions within the group lead to a mutual understanding - in sharp contradiction to the world outside.
