Inspired by a Liberian tale of a magic hoe, this picture book spins a comic story out of Anansi's notorious laziness and his determination to avoid household chores at all cost. Clever Anansi steals a magic stick from Hyena, and orders it to do all the work around his house and garden. But in his haste to enjoy the benefits of idleness, Anansi loses control of the magic and chaos ensues. Despite getting his comeuppance, the irrepressible Anansi is left planning new tricks.
