In this story of West African origin, Anansi uses his ingenuity to solve the problem of bringing light to the world and proves to the larger animals that great things can be achieved when friends work together. With the help of Ant and Fly he reaches the Sky Kingdom and carries out three seemingly impossible tasks set by the Sky King before the latter will agree to share the gift of light. The comic story is well matched to the cartoon-style illustration.
