This picture book celebration of the heritage of African dance draws inspiration from a dance troupe based in Harlem, New York, and their work with young children in teaching the steps, rhythms and traditions of African dance. It depicts groups of children performing a variety of dances which demonstrate the role of costume, body painting, ritual, drums and masks. Double-page colour illustrations with inset panels of information show different aspects of dance and capture the energy and excitement of the groups of participating children.
